“If all mankind were to disappear, the world would regenerate back to the state of equilibrium that existed ten thousand years ago. If insects were to vanish, the environment would collapse into chaos” (E.O.Wilson)
Inspiration for my practice has come from insects, as they subtly impact everyday life. My practice explores the often overlooked importance of insects who keep the equilibrium of the earth, doing unseen tasks that fix parts of the Earth that we’ve destroyed. These insects are overlooked mainly because of fear, and since they are small people often see them as insignificant. Yet without them chaos would be caused. Waste would not be broken down, plants and crops would not grow and as a result of this animals and humans would struggle to survive. The bare necessities of life would cease to exist.
